From School Library Journal

PreSchool-Grade 1-When Dad sneezes so hard that his nose flies off, young David begins a wild chase. As the nose runs away, it sneezes out an aardvark in a torrent of milky white snot. It then sneezes out an antelope, an ambulance, and an ape. In the end, the ape climbs to the top of a skyscraper, where it clings until the nose sneezes out an airplane. As David and the ape fly away, the nose gives a gigantic sneeze and out flies a lanky, red-headed basketball player. The A-A-Athlete! catches the nose and dribbles it against the plane’s wing until David lands safely at home and returns the appendage. One last sneeze threatens to undo his hard work, but thankfully it’s just a normal-sized Dad sneeze. Phew! Rhyming text peppered with nosey wordplay bounces readers through each twist of this offbeat story. White’s cartoon characters, with their big heads and spindly arms, complement the story’s tone. The book is not for the squeamish; each sneeze arrives in a deluge of inexplicably white snot. While not an essential purchase, the story is sure to find an audience.-Suzanne Myers Harold, Multnomah County Library System, Portland, OR
